Cider Week FLX - Finger Lakes Cider House
There’s more than wine in the Finger Lakes! I recently visited the Finger Lakes region during Cider Week (Oct 1st-9th). Dozens of apple orchards reside in the Finger Lakes region of upstate New York. With the popularity of cider in general, it’s only natural that a week should be dedicated to promoting and highlighting the area. Over 50 locations participated in the event, including the Finger Lake Cider House.
I chose the Finger Lakes Cider House at Good Life Farm because they offer a variety of ciders, including non-alcoholic, from five different cider makers. It is a family friendly location with great views of their estate and Cayuga Lake. My group ordered two tasting flights so we could taste all the different ciders on tap. They also offered a nice selection of food and we enjoyed a meat and cheese plate.
Cidery’s on tab were:
Top Three Cider Picks from the Finger Lakes Cider House
Wild Crab (Eve’s Cider)
Dry, sparkling cider. Lots of flavors of fresh squeezed lemons!
Hickster (Black Diamond Cider)
This was the group’s favorite over all. Semi-dry, sparkling cider with lots of bubbles and not as fruit forward with apple flavors.
Jaywalker (Black Diamond Cider)
Semi-dry cider with tons of ginger flavor, but not over powering. If you like Moscow Mules or Ginger Ale, you’ll love this!
I particularly enjoyed the sparkling ciders and could easily enjoy a glass the same way I would a sparkling wine. Overall, the Finger Lakes Cider House does a great job of offering all types of cider to suite many different taste preferences. I will go back on my next Finger Lakes visit.
