Great Indiana Craft Breweries - Heady Hollow Brewing Company
Sometimes Sensible Wino enjoys a change of pace and opts for a beer. But not just any beer, I try to keep it local and it’s easy to do with the incredible micro-brewery scene in Indiana. I recently made a visit to Heady Hollow Brewing Company in Fishers, Indiana (a northeast suburb of Indianapolis) and was very impressed with their beers. The vibe of the tasting room is intimate, warm and welcoming. Outdoor seating is available too. Each time I have visited the service has been excellent. They also offer a great selection of paninis.
Heady Hollow opened their brewery about a year ago and led the trend of micro-breweries opening in Fishers, IN. Founded by Keefe Pietri and George Garrison, who started home brewing as a hobby, Heady Hollow has strived to keep a local community connection. The name “Heady Hollow” has significance to the Fishers community’s history. According to their website:
This plot of land, where 126th Street and Allisonville Road meet, is associated with many legends beginning in the 1850s when Indians living in the area dubbed this place "Devil's Land." More ominous tales (think grave diggers and ghostly apparitions) are a part of Heady Hollow's history. True or not, the guys thought the numerous stories about the area were intriguing and liked the idea of sharing these tales with our customers; they've further tied local history to Heady Hollow by naming their 1802 APA after the year William Conner founded Fishers and their 60 Horses Scotch Ale after the settlement William Conner's first wife received when they decided to part ways. And what's up with the bunny? You'll certainly see lots of bunnies in the area of Heady Hollow today, and a bunny mascot happily drinking a mug of local craft beer just made sense. www.headyhollowbrewing.com
